Pardee Center Establishes Collaborative Effort with Beijing Normal University
John Casellas Connors and Bruce Anderson, a postdoctoral associate and a Faculty Research Fellow, respectively, at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, recently traveled to Beijing Normal University (BNU) for a week-long visit to develop collaborations with researchers at the Chinese university. During their visit, Connors and Anderson gave talks on their research at Boston University and the National Academy of Sciences’ Geography and Atmospheric Sciences programs.
The visit followed an April 2017 meeting at the Pardee Center convened by Prof. Anderson that brought a group of scholars from BNU — led by the university’s executive vice president Prof. Peijun Shi — to share research being conducted on climate change risk at the two universities.
The visit to Beijing last week culminated in the co-signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Pardee Center and the geography department of Beijing Normal University. The MOU establishes areas of collaboration and plans to support the exchange of students and faculty between the two universities.
