Pardee Center Welcomes 2015-16 Visiting Fellows

The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future is pleased to announce the Center’s Visiting Fellows for the 2015-16 academic year.
While they hold positions at other organizations, the Visiting Fellows contribute to the intellectual life of the Pardee Center through scholarly collaborations and participation in the Center’s programs and events.
This year’s group includes:
Visiting Research Fellow Roel Boumans is an ecological economist and the sole proprietor of Accounting FOR Desirable Futures LLC (AFORDable Futures). He will contribute to the Center’s Coupled Human and Natural Systems research program, focusing primarily on modeling.
Visiting Research Fellow Janot Mendler de Suarez was a co-convener of the Pardee Center Task Force on Games for a New Climate. She serves on the Council of Advisors for the Collaborative Institute on Oceans Climate and Security at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and co-chairs the Global Oceans Forum Working Group on Oceans and Climate. She will contribute her expertise on climate change adaptation in developing countries, peer learning techniques, and stakeholder engagement to Pardee Center research programs.
Visiting Research Fellow Joe Roman is a Research Associate Professor at the Rubenstein School for the Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont. He will also participate in the Coupled Human and Natural Systems research program, for which he will primarily contribute in the field and by sharing the science with key decision makers.
Visiting Research Fellow Pablo Suarez is Associate Director at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London, Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy. He will contribute to the Center’s research that involves climate change impacts and adaptation especially in the developing world. His past work with the Pardee Center includes authoring the Pardee Paper, Linking Climate Knowledge and Decisions: Humantarian Challenges and as a co- convener of the Pardee Center Task Force on Games for a New Climate.
Visiting Fellow Brian Swett, who holds a joint appointment with the Initiative on Cities, is Director of Cities and Sustainable Real Estate for Arup Group Limited. He previously served as Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space for the City of Boston during the administration of the late Mayor Thomas Menino. He will lend his expertise to Boston University as a contributor to programs and research endeavors related to the urban environment and sustainability.
