Pardee Center Hosts “Nile Project” Discussion on Friday, March 27

The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future will host a panel discussion on Friday, March 27 from 3 to 4 pm titled “Water Politics in the Nile Basin” as part of a four-day series of events at Boston University coordinated by the BU Arts Initiative in association with The Nile Project.
Pardee Center Director Anthony Janetos will moderate the discussion, and panelists will include: Jessica Barnes (Assistant Professor, University of South Carolina), Farouk El-Baz (Director of the Center for Remote Sensing, BU),James McCann (Chair, Department of Archeology and former Director, African Studies Center BU), & Mina Girgis (CEO & President, The Nile Project).
This panel discussion will take place at the Pardee Center, 67 Bay State Road, and is free and open to the public.
The Nile Project is a group of a dozen musicians from all of the countries bordering the Nile river whose mission is to “educate, inspire, and empower the citizens of the Nile basin to foster the sustainability of the Nile River’s ecosystem” through the group’s musical collaborations. During the group’s four-day residency at Boston University on March 24-27, the first stop on a New England tour, The Nile Project will participate in a series of events across Boston University coordinated by the BU Arts Initiative — Office of the Provost, and co-sponsored by the African Studies Center, the School of Music, World Music/CRASHarts and with financial support from the New England Foundation for the Arts.
