Pardee Task Force Report Published in Policy Research Journal
The individual papers in the March 2011 Pardee Center Task Force Report, “Beyond Rio + 20: Governance for a Green Economy” have been published as a special section in the September 2011 issue of the journal Review of Policy Research.
The Pardee Center Task Force on Governance for a Green Economy was convened in Fall 2010 by former Pardee Center Director Adil Najam and Pardee Faculty Fellow Henrik Selin. The stellar group of experts from academia, government and civil society convened at the Pardee Center and were asked to outline ideas about what the world has learned about institutions for sustainable development from the past, and what we can propose about the governance challenges and opportunities for the continuous development of a green economy in the future. The resulting report of the collected papers by the Task Force members was intended as an intellectual contribution to the preparations for the 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, and the report was introduced at a meeting of the UN Rio + 20 preparatory committee in March 2011. It has since received widespread interest and attention.
In the “Editor’s Note” introducing the special section of the Review of Policy Research, editor Christopher Gore wrote:
“The papers, ranging on subjects from consumerism to accountability to energy to civil society, are provocative reflections that will surely stimulate reflection and debate, and hopefully, feed the interests of another generation of students. Moreover, with this issue being published in September 2011, our hope is that the papers will stimulate debate in university courses and spur deep reflection in the international process leading up to the UN conference.”
