Pardee Center Research Fellow Dr. Pablo Suarez has joined the faculty of University of Lugano (Switzerland) – Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Logistics and Management.

During the week of August 9th, Dr. Suarez taught a course entitled “Innovations in climate risk management.” This course was built on the Pardee Center publication “Linking Climate Knowledge and Decisions: Humanitarian Challenges,” and combined lectures, group work, video tools and participatory games that simulate the complexities of decision making given incomplete but useful information about changing risks.

In addition to teaching this course annually, Dr Suarez will supervise students that integrate science-based predictions into their thesis. For example, one of the students will research how the Haiti Weather and Climate Risk website, can support disaster management operations to support the most vulnerable people in Haiti.
