Pardee Center Hosts Scholar from the German Advisory Council on Global Change

berndThe Pardee Center is hosting a visiting scholar, Bernd Sommer, from Germany in May 2010.

Bernd Sommer is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen, Germany, and Research Analyst to the German Advisory Council on Global Change, which advises the Federal Government on climate change and other global environmental and development problems. Sommer studied Social Sciences at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Leibniz University Hannover, where he also taught at the Institute for Sociology and Social Psychology.

Currently, Sommer is working with the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) on a new flagship report concerning transition pathways towards sustainability. While at the Pardee Center, he will continue his research on civil society actors and strategies towards the “Great Transformation”.
