Pardee Director Invited to Brief Canadian Policy-Makers on Future Trends

Prof. Adil Najam, the Frederick S. Pardee Professor of Global Public Policy at Boston University and Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, was invited to give a briefing to the Deputy Minister’s Committee on Global Trends, Foreign Affairs and Defence of the government of Canada on future trends in development, environment and human security.
The Committee is headed by Canada’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and the President of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and is composed of Canada’s senior-most officials from a range of key departments, including Defence, Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Environment, Infrastructure, the Privy Council, Intelligence and Health. The Committee is currently reviewing a medium-range strategy for Canada in light of global trends and invited Prof. Adil Najam to brief them on his ideas about which global trends are most likely to influence the global development.
Later Prof. Najam was asked to give a similar presentation to other government officials and staff of the Committee.
Both presentations were held at the Foreign Affairs Building in Ottawa, Canada.
