Executive Coaching

We offer one-on-one coaching that is development-focused to support senior academic and administrative leaders in three vital stages of their leadership journey:

  • As they embark on their leadership journey at BU
  • When they are working on navigating structural or situational change in their units
  • When they are working on complex, high-impact strategic projects

We believe that coaching support at these junctures sets our leaders up for success.

Principles Guiding Our Coaching:

The principles below are derived from research on best practices in coaching and our past coaching experiences. These principles are the underpinning of a successful coaching engagement:

  • The client understands the ‘what’s in it for them’ and is willing to engage in the process.
  • The engagement is focused on results with clear and objective goals that align with the goals of the client and their manager.
  • The client prioritizes the work resulting from coaching; practicing and reflecting on the committed steps.
  • There is ongoing support and feedback on progress from the client’s manager.

In keeping with these principles, the coaching is primarily non-directive and focuses on guiding clients to find solutions. We emphasize both self-awareness and the impact of self on team and organization in service of behavior change resulting in client’s success in their role.

To this end, we start all coaching requests with a short needs assessment to ensure coaching is the right solution and create a coaching contract to ensure success.
