Assistant Head for Access Services, Pardee Management Library
Brock Edmunds has served as Assistant Head for Access Services at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee Management Library since 2006. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in both public and academic libraries, he brings deep expertise in library operations, reference, instruction, and collection development. At Pardee Library, he plays a key role in managing essential services such as reference, instruction, and course reserves.
Brock’s research interests include business librarianship, reference and user services, student success, leadership, and AI-assisted research. He is particularly focused on how emerging technologies like generative AI can enhance research and library services. To support this work, he has completed numerous AI-related courses and actively shares practical insights through instructional programming. He has led sessions such as Enhance Your Library Research with AI and AI in Action: Practical Ways Library Staff Can Leverage AI, which explore real-world applications of generative tools in academic settings. He also co-leads the monthly Tech and AI Talks series at BU Libraries, a dynamic forum for dialogue, peer learning, and exploration of new technologies in higher education.
Prior to joining Boston University, Brock held roles as a librarian and instructor in the for-profit education sector, a law librarian, and a Senior Paralegal at Liberty Mutual. These experiences gave him a unique perspective on research, information management, and user-centered services. His transition to librarianship was motivated by a deep commitment to supporting research and student success.
Outside of BU, Brock is an active member of the Boston Library Consortium’s Business Community of Interest, where he collaborates with peers on various initiatives. He also serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship, contributing his expertise to the field. Brock’s ongoing contributions help shape the future of libraries in supporting academic achievement and business innovation.
