Library Instruction: Classes and Tutorials

Librarians at all of the Boston University Libraries are available to provide instruction in the use of library resources. We can present the library’s website, research tools and databases to your class, and discuss strategies for finding and evaluating information. We can introduce students to bibliographic tools such as RefWorks as well. Librarians are happy to introduce students to the most basic resources or prepare classes for research in very specialized areas. If time permits, we may develop class-specific course guides. We welcome the opportunity to meet the needs of your students.

Classes can be conducted at Mugar or a branch library; in a classroom or hands-on environment; or we can come to your class. Please allow sufficient lead time for us to schedule your class.

For e-mail or telephone requests for instruction, please include the following:

  • Your name and an e-mail address or phone number.
  • Course name and number.
  • Number of students in the class.
  • Day, date and time you would like to bring classes to the library.
  • Specific research tools you wish to include in the instructional session.

For information about class instruction please contact Beth Restrick, Interim Head of Liaison & Instruction Services, at 617-353-3726 or email brestric@bu.edu.
