Services at the African Studies Library
The African Studies Library (ASL) offers a variety of services to both the Boston University community and the general public. Please note that all materials housed within the ASL are non-circulating and must be used within our reading room. Circulation of material in the adjoining stacks and general collection is limited to BU affiliates only; however visitors are welcome to come and use the collections on-site.
We can provide general or in-depth research assistance for individuals as requested. We are also happy to assist faculty and students with various online tools available, such as Blackboard, Refworks, various library databases, the catalog, etc. We offer both classroom instruction as well as class tours of the ASL itself. We can also create research guides and tutorials upon faculty request for specific courses or topics of study. Please visit our instruction page for more information.
Additional services such as inter-library loan (ILL), reserve, photocopying and scanning are provided via the Mugar Memorial Library. Please visit their services page for more details.
We welcome any suggestions in order to better serve our users. Please feel free to contact us at 617-353-3726 or asl@bu.edu.
