Five BU Law Alumnae Named Top Women of Law

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s annual event celebrates significant accomplishments in the MA legal community

On Thursday, October 23, six Boston University School of Law alumnae were honored at Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s seventh annual Top Women of Law event. The ceremony recognized women who have made “great professional strides and demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in private practice, the corporate arena, and social advocacy.”

Additionally, Jennifer G. Miller (’93) was inducted into the Circle of Excellence, which recognizes two-time Top Women of Law honorees who “continue to exemplify the continued professional, civic and mentoring achievements year in and year out in the Massachusetts legal community,” says Mass. Lawyers Weekly.

BU Law alumnae honored as Top Women of Law 2014 include:

  • Stacie S. Aarestad (’97), partner at Edwards Wildman, is the chair of the Securities Offering and Public Company Counseling Practice Group. She focuses her practice on corporate and securities law matters, public company representation and merger and acquisition transactions. She represents issuers in a broad range of capital market transactions, including public and private offerings of debt and equity securities. She also advises companies with respect to tender offers, exchange offers, debt repurchases and stock buybacks.
  • Tracy A. Craig (’93), partner at Mirick O’Connell, is chair of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Group. She works with individuals in all areas of estate and gift tax planning and also specializes in estate administration, prenuptial agreements, guardianships and conservatorships, and all aspects of charitable planning. She serves in various fiduciary capacities, including trustee, conservator and personal representative (formerly known as executor), and works with clients on issues facing elders.
  • Rachelle A. Dubow (’98) is a partner at Bingham McCutchen. Her practice focuses on counseling, protection and licensing of intellectual property rights, with an emphasis on domestic and international trademark prosecution and global brand management. Rachelle assists companies in the selection, clearance, registration and enforcement of trademarks and the registration and enforcement of copyrights, as well as the leveraging of intellectual property assets.
  • Ellen S. Wilbur (’72) is legal director and family law attorney at Community Legal Services & Counseling Center, which provides free civil legal aid and affordable psychological counseling to low-income people. Since joining CLSACC in 2002, she has assisted over 1,000 survivors of domestic violence in complicated family law cases and provided leadership at both CLSACC and in the community.
  • Circle of Excellence winner Jennifer G. Miller (’93) is the Government Bureau deputy chief for the Office of the Attorney General of Massachusetts. Prior to her appointment in 2009, she was an assistant attorney general in the Administrative Law Division, where served as lead counsel on behalf of several state agencies in complex civil litigation.

BU Law congratulates our accomplished alumnae and all honorees for this well-deserved recognition.
