Beyond Boston Employment Advising Series Plugs Students Into Major Markets Across the US

Legal recruiters in California, Greater Philadelphia, DC, and Chicago offer one-on-one advising sessions with BU Law students.

BU Law's nearly 24,000 alumni work in all 50 states, Washington DC, two US territories, and more than 65 countries.
BU Law’s nearly 24,000 alumni work in all 50 states, Washington DC, two US territories, and more than 65 countries.

Boston University School of Law attracts students from across the globe wishing to receive a top-tier legal education and a degree that is respected wherever they choose to practice. While many graduates remain in the Boston area, the Career Development Office (CDO) maintains a number of resources and programs for students seeking employment outside of the Bay State. This includes the recently launched employment advising series, “Beyond Boston.”

Beyond Boston virtually connects interested 2 and 3Ls with legal recruiters in major US markets for individual advising appointments. The inaugural program is focused on four markets popular with BU Law students: California, Philadelphia/New Jersey/Delaware, DC, and Chicago.

Each participating recruiter has extensive experience advising attorneys on career-related matters. Three of four are BU Law alumnae.

In the advising sessions, students can ask for guidance on topics including local legal trends, resume and interview advice, and further resources to aid in the job search.

The CDO has received a strong response from interested students. And because of the virtual nature of the appointments, those studying abroad and completing a Semester-in-Practice around the US are able to participate.

In addition to holding individual advising appointments with students, the recruiters are working with the CDO staff to educate the advisors on the latest trends in each of the legal markets.
