Public Service Fellowships

Launched in 2010, BU Law’s Post-Graduate Public Service Fellowships continue the long tradition of supporting our students’ pursuit of careers in public service.

BU Law is proud to award full-time post-graduate fellowships to a select group of its 2025 JD graduates, enabling them to provide legal assistance to non- profit organizations and state and local government agencies for one year. The fellowship terms run from approximately September 1 through August 31 of the following year.

To be considered for a fellowship, a student must first obtain a commitment from a host organization to sponsor them for the fellowship period, and then submit an application to the relevant fellowship category. A fellowship selection committee comprised of BU Law faculty, staff, and alumni will award fellowships to selected candidates whose applications demonstrate the potential for significant and substantive achievement of the fellowship goals during the fellowship year. This is a two-step process where funding is not guaranteed to all who apply.

Fellowships are awarded in the following categories. One award is available from each category per graduating class.

If you are interested in applying for a fellowship, please reach out to Eron Hackshaw, Director for Public Service and Pro Bono.
