TMBIDL

TMBIDL is a display and analysis software package for single dish radio Astronomy written in IDL. It has all of the functionality of the old NRAO UniPOPS software. It is written as a suite of IDL procedures and is completely extensible. It functions from both the command line as well as via sciptable, batch procedures built up from more primitive TMBIDL commands (.pro’s).

TMBIDL was originally written by Tom Bania for his 3-Helium research using the GBT for both spectral line (ACS) and continuum (DCR) observing. TMBIDL motivated NRAO to develop GBTIDL. Nevertheless, importing *any* single dish radio astronomical data into the package is very straightforward. TMBIDL V6.1 has multiple data interfaces (both line and continuum, for NRAO GBT, NAIC Arecibo, NRAO 140-foot, MPIfR Effelsberg, and BU-FCRAO GRS data) as well as mapping and image processing tools. In fact, it is also straightforward to import any astronomical data stored in a 3D FITS cube.
