Caryne A. Nicholas is a PhD student, and studies twentieth-century German queer history under Professor Jonathan Zatlin at Boston University. She received her BA with honors in History from Boston University in 2021, and her honors thesis centered on Seventh-day Adventism in East Germany 1953-1961. However, her research interests currently revolve around understanding queer identity development through visual culture and space/place, and the relationship between queer communities and authoritarian regimes. She also lends her time as a committee member for the BU LGBTQIA+ History Project, which is dedicated to constructing a history of Boston University’s LGBTQ+ community.
