We are pleased to announce that the Center is the new permanent home for the Favorite Poem Project. Founded by former Poet Laureate and William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor Robert Pinsky, the Favorite Poem Project documents and celebrates the role poetry plays in our lives through a growing collection of short video documentaries showcasing Americans of all ages and backgrounds reading and discussing their favorite poems. The FPP also produces educational resources and hosts readings in order to document and celebrate the role of poetry in our lives.
The FPP comes to BUCH as we expand our support for public humanities. Building on existing relationships with cultural institutions across the greater Boston area. BUCH is committed to the idea that all should benefit from BU’s long tradition of humanistic inquiry and deep archive of cultural materials. The Favorite Poem Project, with its insistence that poetry belongs to everyone, is central to this vision. FPP activities will be led by Annette Frost, long-time FPP director and the Center’s first public humanities manager.
