Irene García is currently completing a PhD in History of Art and Architecture at Boston University with a focus on Latin American and Caribbean Art of the 20th century. She received a master’s in art history from Syracuse University, where she received the Elizabeth Gilmore Holt Prize for Outstanding Graduate Paper for her thesis project titled “Painting Disenchantment? The Shadow of Colonialism in Francisco Oller’s The Wake (1893).” Irene has worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico and is currently a Teaching Fellow at Boston University.
