1) What have you been doing since you graduated from BU? Details about your current and past employment? Accomplishments you’re proud of? Challenges you’ve encountered?
Connecting teens with the arts is my vocation. I am a proud faculty member at Corona del Mar HS, CA, teaching AP Art History, World History, and Studio Art. I am a consultant for The College Board: AP and UCI History Project; attended Syracuse University in Florence, Italy, as a graduate fellow and co-taught courses in Florence and Sicily; worked for the Bowers Museum in California as their Programs Coordinator; attended UCI’s MAT program; and earned credentials in Art and Social Science.
2) How your time in the department shaped your professional and personal lives?
My professors in Art History connected me with professional networks where I was able to challenge myself, connect with advisors, and advance my study of world cultures. They also followed up with me! THEY orchestrated the experiences that made me fall in love with art and the study of world cultures. Today, I am proud to have the first BA in my family, plus two MA’s for AH and teaching.
3) Any advice that you would’ve given to your younger self?
Be more outgoing, and COMMIT to doing things with people who are like-minded. Life is short, so when you find people in your circle with similar interests, don’t let those opportunities pass you by.
