Please join us on Tuesday, November 17th for a lecture by Dr. Lamia Balafrej, Assistant Professor of Art at Wellesley College.

Prof. Balafrej, whose focus is on the Islamic world, is currently working on a book project that examines the visual culture of late Timurid painting (c. 1470 to 1500) and its intersection with shifting paradigms of authorship and issues of reception. She has degrees from the Sorbonne, the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, and the University of Aix-Marseille, and has held a number of research fellowships in France, Turkey, and the United States. Her talk is entitled “Bihzad and the Artist’s Name in Persian Painting.”

The talk will take place at 5:30 pm in CAS Room 200, to be followed by refreshments.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, and we look forward to seeing you there!
