1) What have you been doing since you graduated from BU?
In the same year that I defended my dissertation, I accepted a job as a Fine Arts Specialist at the U.S. General Services Administration in Washington, D.C. In this position, I help manage, interpret, and care for a spectacular federal public art collection. This collection includes New Deal murals and sculptures as well as contemporary works commissioned under the Art in Architecture program that started during the Nixon administration approximately 50 years ago.
2) How your time in the department shaped your professional and personal lives?
My time at the department was valuable and treasured. I received a great education and flourished (I believe) in the collaborative environment at BU between faculty and students. The department is very welcoming, and I hope I continue to honor that spirit of collaboration in my professional life.
3) Any advice that you would’ve given to your younger self?
The most important part of graduate school is the friendships and connections you make. Don’t be so precious about your dissertation.
