      SAGE/GWISE Spring 2022 Intramural Signups

With the start of the Spring Semester, we wanted to remind you of the Intramurals offerings. GWISE and SAGE are once again collaborating on forming teams for IMs.

Depending on interest levels, they will be fielding teams in the following sports:

      • 5-on-5 basketball (Open, Women’s, Co-Rec) Deadline: 02/03

      • Volleyball (Open, Co-Rec, Women’s) Deadline: 02/10

      • Possibly Broomball (Co-Rec), (BU is still determining availability)

      • Indoor Soccer (Open, Co-Rec, Women’s) Deadline: 02/03

      • Wiffle Ball Deadline: 02/24

The playing season lasts between mid-February through the end of the semester, with the first games taking place within a week of the Captains’ meeting for that sport (noted in the linked survey). If the threshold of committed players is not met, or there are no volunteers to captain a particular team, a team will not be signed up in that sport. We have three commitment levels for teams:

      • Captain – Responsible for attending captain’s meeting, as well as reminding players of upcoming games and keeping track of attendees. Commits to playing every game.

      • Team Member – Committing to playing every game.

      • Free Agent – Committing to playing at least one game.

We will only sign up a team if there is a captain and there are at least twice the minimum number of players needed to field a team. For Co-Rec teams, which require a 50:50 balance of male to female identifying players, this means that we will only sign up a team if 2x the minimum number of men and 2x the minimum number of women sign up. Players who do not meet commitment expectations will be barred from participating in SAGE/GWISE run IMs for the next semester – Team Members are ultimately responsible for communicating in a timely manner if there is a game they absolutely cannot make, and Free Agents are expected to make every effort to make at least one game.

If you are interested in participating in IMs, please fill out the survey here. In addition, there will be a gathering at a later date once teams are formed to allow players to get a chance to meet each other, and for anyone to ask questions about how the process works.
