    BU Blood Drive: Partnering with the American Red Cross a blood donation will take place on Wednesday, Feb 16, 10 am – 3 pm at George Sherman Union. All participants will receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

    Innovate BU: Idea con Ignite speaker series where dozens of speakers are ready to share their knowledge with you. The event is on Saturday, Feb 26, 9 am- 1:30 pm at Questrom School of Business. Tickets are available at ideacon2022.com 

    BU Visual Arts: Artist talk with Nicola Lopez, Lopez’s work in installation, printmaking, sculpture, and video reconfigures contemporary urban landscapes have come to be characteristics of society today.     BU Nutrition Club: In recognition of eating disorder awareness week BUNDC has planned an engaging discussion with Dr. Paula Quatromoni a nutrition professor and epidemiologist on Wednesday, Feb 23, 7 pm at SAR 220. Click the link to register https://linktr.ee/bunutritionclub

      Center for Career Development: is delighted to welcome Gorick Ng talk called The Unspoken Rules Ng will talk about techniques to use in your professional career on Tuesday, Feb 7, 5:20 pm – 7:30pm.

      Craft Circle

      Tired of crafting alone at home? Need motivation to finish that project in the back of your closet? Join our virtual GWISE craft circle! In this group, we will hangout while working on our respective crafts, show off what we’ve made and share advice. Click here to sign up for our list-serve and get notified of our get-togethers! The list-serve also gets first dibs on our supplies-provided events.

      Fitness

      Join our listserv and we’re always looking for more volunteers to lead fitness classes! Previous classes include: HIIT, Tabata, Cardio Kickboxing, Strength Training, Yoga, Pilates, and more. If you’re interested in teaching a class (even just once!), sign up here or mark your interest in the listserv signup.
      Recipe Collection

      GWISE is collecting a repository of recipes during the current COVID-19 pandemic to share with our community. Have a recipe to add? Whether it’s a treasured family favorite or a quick treat you once found in a 30sec google search, share it with us! Find yourself cooking more often these days and need some suggestions? Check out our current repository here!
      Puzzle Exchange

      Looking for something fun to do with friends and family this winter? GWISE is organizing a puzzle exchange. Use This Link to check out the puzzles we have available to borrow! If you want to rent a puzzle or have a puzzle you’d like to donate, contact Abby Robinson (aer13@bu.edu) to arrange pick up.

      Call for Writing Fellows–Educational Resource Center

      ERC is currently hiring Writing Fellows to provide individual tutoring in writing for undergraduate and graduate students in all fields. We are especially eager to recruit STEM Writing Fellows since STEM PhDs students are actually the largest group of graduate students we serve.

      Please share this opportunity with any STEM master’s or PhD students who might be interested! I’ve attached a complete job description, but here are some key highlights:

      • Writing Fellows have a flexible work schedule and work 5–20 hours a week
      • The starting pay for first year fellow is $17.90/hour (with an increase as you continue)
      • We would love to encourage students who have English as a Second Language learning background to apply
      • Experience in writing in your field, teaching others, and tutoring is a plus

       Early Stage Urban Research Awards from the Initiative on Cities

      BU Initiative on Cities (IOC) is accepting submissions for our annual RFP—our Early Stage Urban Research AwardsProposals are Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 11:59pm ET. 

      BU faculty and BU graduate students with faculty oversight are eligible to apply for funding. These seed grants, with awards of up to $10,000, support research addressing urban challenges and urban populations in the U.S. and abroad. Awards are open to all BU schools, and interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged

       This year, we are particularly interested in proposals related to mental health and addiction, the Global South, small cities and suburban growth, and policy-oriented research. Additionally, we always welcome projects from other academic disciplines that work toward sustainable, just, and inclusive urban transformation.
