Dr. Gelsdorf helps oversee GHC strategic planning, program delivery, and funding in the Southeast Asia region. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, trained in Family Medicine at the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency program in California, received his M.D from the University of California, San Francisco, and received a B.A. in history from Dartmouth College.

Dr. Gelsdorf has been involved in health capacity development in Southeast Asia since 2005, primarily in Myanmar where he has collaborated on various public health projects in rural, urban, and international border locations. He was a participant in the establishment of the Myanmar Academy of Family Physicians in 2014, and continues to work with the organization on a daily basis to achieve its mission of establishing Family Medicine in Myanmar. He also serves as a technical resource to the University of Health Sciences in Vientiane in its delivery of a Masters in Family Medicine. Outside of his contributions to GHC, Dr. Gelsdorf works in Family Medicine private practice in Yangon, Myanmar, and attends regularly on the Family Medicine inpatient service at the UCSF Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency.
