Margot Parsons

Margot Parsons is a choreographer and an instructor of ballet at Boston University, Boston Ballet, and Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre. Parsons previously taught ballet at Newton Arts Center, Boston College, The Dance Complex, Harvard University, Suffolk University, Dean College, and Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts, and in New York at The New School of Social Research. For 35 years at Boston College and 9 at Suffolk University, she taught for-credit ballet classes that included functional anatomy for dancers and dance history. Parsons trained in Chicago with Richard Ellis and Christine DuBoulay and in New York with Richard Thomas, The Harkness School, Maggie Black, and at the Graham School. Along with presenting and performing her choreography in many venues in New York, she was invited to dance with Agnes de Mille and Pearl Lang. She also performed with Choreoconcerts, Larry Richardson, Yuriko, The Ballet Ensemble of New York, and in the City Center production of “The King and I” and in Boston with Ken Pierce Baroque Dance Company and “A Dancer’s Christmas.” She has a BS from the University of Wisconsin and an MA with honors from the University of Utah. Her choreography has been set on many companies, including her own, DanceVisions, Inc., students at BU, Boston College, Wellesley College, Harvard Ballet Company, Boston Ballet II, and BalletNY. In 2020, she received the Michael Shannon Dance Champion Award from the Boston Dance Alliance for her work as a teacher, choreographer, and producer.
