Isobel Chang

Dance Instructor

Originally from New Jersey, Isobel trained at the New Jersey School of Ballet under founder Carolyn Clark, and had opportunities to perform with the New Jersey Ballet Company. She spent summers honing her ballet technique at intensive programs with the American Ballet Theatre (NYC), Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Boston Ballet, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Isobel has performed works by Marius Petipa, George Tamal, Carolyn Clark, George Balanchine, Desmond Richardson, Alvin Ailey, Humberto Teixeira, and Margot Parsons, and in productions such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Swan Lake.

Isobel has a BA in International Relations from Boston University. After graduating from BU, Isobel relocated to Singapore for five years where she taught dance and fitness. Her teaching experience ranges from all ages and levels, from baby ballet to adult dancers in both the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, the Vaganova method, as well as her own signature open class style.

Isobel is a strong advocate for accessible ballet education to all dancers and believes that anyone can find joy through ballet. She is passionate about creating community through dance and is excited to return to BU as faculty!
