The Dance Theater

Interested in booking the Dance Theater? Internal BU groups can submit requests here.

We are not booking external productions at this time. The theater may be rented to external groups for studio use only. We anticipate offering production rentals for external groups in the 2027-2028 academic year and will share more details as they become available.

The Boston University Dance Theater and Rehearsal Space is a 225-seat, state-of-the-art studio/theater space designed specifically for dance performances, classes, and special events. In addition to housing a wide variety of educational and recreational dance activities, the space can be rented for concerts, master classes, and other events.

The Dance Theater is located on the Boston University campus at FitRec, 915 Commonwealth Ave. Boston, MA 02215. The entrance to the theater is on Buick Street.

We have performances and events in the dance theater that will educate, inspire, and entertain you.

Work at the Dance Theater

Develop your understanding of what happens behind the scenes. We have openings for those with and
without experience in front of house, technical crew, and office production positions. Cross training in
multiple positions will build your skill set, knowledge, and versatility.

 

Front of house positions include house manager, box office assistant, and usher.

 

Tech crew positions include stage manager, lighting operator and sound operator.

Join our team

Rent the Dance Theater

Create and host your events in our flexible specially designed venue. Available to student and
community groups for concerts, workshops, productions, and gala events.

 

The Dance Theater is equipped with:

 

• Seating for 225

 

• Lobby with ticket booth and rest rooms; entrance on Buick Street

 

• Access for guests with disabilities

 

• Spacious backstage area, including dressing rooms

 

• Overhead grid with 83 instruments

 

• Flexible sound system

 

• Full draperies including proscenium curtain

 

• 3,200 square feet with 1,200 feet of performance space

 

• Rosco Adagio flooring
