Amane Takaishi
Part-time Instructor of Ballet and Pilates
Amane is a professional ballet dancer with City Ballet of Boston, a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, and a Pilates instructor certified by Balanced Body (Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel and Barre). Central to her artistic and physical development, ballet has guided her path, with Pilates becoming a natural extension. She began studying with Mitsuyo Kishibe in her hometown of Tokyo, Japan and was introduced to Pilates. Amane continued training in both ballet and Pilates at Elmhurst School of Ballet in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, and later at Central School of Ballet in the UK. Ballet and Pilates have continually complemented each other, enhancing her physical strength and bringing a sense of balance to her mind throughout her professional career with Eugene Ballet Company, Ballet Tucson, A&A Ballet, and City Ballet of Boston. In the Boston area, she has worked with many choreographers, including Margot Parsons and Gianni Di Marco. Amane is an artist with the Asian American Ballet Project, founded by Elizabeth Mochizuki, and with United Dance, founded by Boris Richir.
