Congratulations to these outstanding student employees who contribute to the success of PERD programs and services!
If you see these students on campus, be sure to congratulate them!
Aquatics – Claire Holland
Claire came to the wonderful world of BU Aquatics in August of 2023. With her she brought a presence and sunny disposition which make her a delight to have as one of our outstanding swim instructors. She is a remarkable teacher, and her students just adore her! She is always willing to go the extra mile to bring a smile to the faces of those around her, and exudes kindness and genuine care for her swimmers and coworkers. She’s been an outstanding member of the team and we’re so happy to have her here! Thank you, Claire, for your endless dedication and talent for teaching!
EMS – Thuc Nhan (Su) Tran
Since Su joined our team last year, her impact has been nothing short of phenomenal, especially in covering our special events. This month alone, Su has been at Agganis Arena multiple times, capturing the essence of each event with unparalleled enthusiasm. Moreover, during the winter break, she played a pivotal role in ensuring seamless operations while most of our staff were away. Su’s dedication and contribution deserve a huge round of applause. Thank you, Su, for your outstanding efforts!
Facilities – Keiara Hawes
Keiara is a first-year front desk worker who is crushing it! She is attentive, poised, and handles all customer interactions with grace. Always willing to jump in and help, Keiara is a model student staff member. We are thrilled to have Keiara as a part of our team and appreciate her willingness to always help and her genuine interest in her FitFam coworkers’ lives. Thank you for all your hard work this semester, Keiara! It does not go unnoticed!
Fitness – Ximena Cavazos
Ximena has displayed consistent attention to detail in their work as a student manager for the fitness attendant team, going above their expectations for improving the environment in the fitness center. Their willingness to help on the floor as well as in the office sets a great example for other staff.
Intramurals – Erin Huban
Throughout this spring semester, Erin has worked tirelessly to prove herself as a valuable member of the basketball officiating team. Her consistent effort and quality is matched by her professionalism in each and every shift. Shift supervisors are confident when she is out on the floor, and the intramural program is grateful to have her.
Outdoor Programs – Daniel Gonzalez
Daniel works at the climbing wall as an attendant, having joined the team this past year. He is calm, kind, and dependable. Whenever there seems to be a communications issue at the wall with a facility rental or special event, Daniel is often working and able to problem solve on the ground to help groups have a good experience. Earlier this year, Daniel was one of the staff working during the bouldering competition, and he patiently explained the format and scoring not only to each participant, but also helped other climbing staff get up to speed. He is an exceptional staff member, and Outdoor Programs will greatly miss Daniel’s reliability and kindness when he graduates. Congratulations, Daniel!
PERD Administration (Reception Desk) – Kyla Smith
Kyla is always ready to help in any way possible! There have been numerous times in which she has gone above and beyond throughout her employment with PERD, by staying later than her assigned shift to lend our professional staff a hand, as well as making sure she finishes all tasks before ending her day. She has also shown that not only is she a team player, but very dedicated and focused as she maintains two part-time jobs while remaining in great academic standings. Kyla’s commitment to her work is undeniable, and nonetheless very appreciated by our staff. She exemplifies what it means to be hard working, independent, and driven, which is why she deserves this Student of Month recognition! We can’t forget her infectious smile that brightens up our office and the brain-stumping trivia questions with which she challenges our staff daily! Kudos, Kyla!
Pro Shop – Gaby Bartolomei
Gaby has been shouted out this month by several patrons for her service provided with a positive attitude. Gaby is always wonderfully engaged with patrons and serving with a smile (even at the 6am shifts!). Gaby is always ready to help a patron or coworker alike. It is an absolute joy to have her as a part of our team. Gaby creates a welcoming environment at both the Pro Shop and Front Desk like no one else. Thank you for your hard work, Gaby. We appreciate you!
