Are you looking for a job that will build leadership skills, fit your schedule, and help keep the BU community safe and active? The Aquatics team at FitRec is hiring, and we’re looking for responsible, enthusiastic individuals—age 16 and up—to join us.
Whether you’re a strong swimmer interested in lifeguarding, someone who loves teaching and wants to help people build confidence in the water, or an experienced instructor ready to train the next generation of lifeguards, there’s a role for you.
Current openings include:
Lifeguards
Help maintain a safe and welcoming pool environment during recreational swim hours, classes, and special events. You must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification (2024 or 2017 version with CPR/AED and First Aid). Pay starts at $16.50/hour.
Swim Instructors
Teach high-quality swim lessons to children and adults of all levels through our Swim School, Swim Club, and adult programming. A current CPR/AED certification is required; Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred. Pay starts at $18/hour.
Lifeguarding Instructors
Lead American Red Cross certification courses and help prepare new lifeguards for success. You must hold current certifications, including Lifeguarding Instructor, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, and Inclusion Resource Training Certificate. Pay starts at $25/hour.
All Aquatics staff receive a free FitRec membership and ongoing training as part of a supportive team environment.
