December 2023 Student Employees of the Month

Congratulations to these outstanding student employees who contribute to the success of PERD programs and services!

If you see these students on campus, be sure to congratulate them!

Aquatics – Zella Goodell

Zella came on board the S.S. Aquatics in the fall of 2022. She brought with her an awesomely upbeat and outgoing personality, which is very contagious! She not only came on as a lifeguard, but she later became an instructor, sharing her knowledge and skills with the world of aquatics. Zella is a very energetic and dynamic member of our staff, and it’s easy to become a part of one of her vibrant discussions. She was recently promoted to the position of deck supervisor. Congratulations, Zella!

EMS – Makayla Chambers

As a new staff member, Makayla has exceeded the monthly shift requirement and covered countless shifts at the different locations that BUEMS covers. She has shown a fantastic passion for wanting to help patients during their time of need. She delivers terrific patient care to all, even on crazy shifts where all EMTs are assisting patients with serious cases. She is always willing to help out BUEMS whenever we get into a pitch. Overall, she is a fantastic employee, and truly deserves and embraces the qualities of employee of the month. Thank you, Makayla, and congratulations.

Facilities – Andrew Ciali

Andrew was nominated for this month’s Student Employee of the Month by every FAC Manager! A returner and a senior, Andrew brings an air of professionalism and hard work to the front desk. Always striving to learn and grow, Andrew has become an essential part of our FAC FitFam. Beyond his goal of lifelong learning, Andrew is a joy to be around. He has worked to learn not only the names of his new coworkers, but to really know them beyond their time at the desk. We appreciate you, Andrew! Thank you for all you do for the desk and the humor that you bring to the team.

Fitness – Fabian Andre Agostini Ruiz

Fabian’s warm personality and people skills shine each time they walk through the doors. Since Fabian joined our team as a Fitness Attendant, they have shown great dedication to the BU FitRec community. They arrive on time, go above and beyond to problem-solve during shifts, and help out their team members. We are happy to work alongside Fabian to provide our community with valuable services, facilities, and personnel.

Intramurals – Alexa Davila

Since joining the intramural program this fall, Alexa has quickly become one of the most adaptable students on the team. Her poise and well-rounded knowledge has led to her having an impact with basketball, soccer, and volleyball.

Outdoor Programs – Isabelle Lam

Outdoor Programs congratulates Isabelle Lam on earning Student Employee of the Month for December 2023. Isabelle joined the climbing wall staff this year and has worked in several different capacities, including as a PDP instructor, where she did excellent work and received strong evaluations from students in the class. As is always the case, staffing the wall over semester breaks can be a challenge, but Isabelle has stepped up and will helping us out this winter break. In just a single semester, Isabelle has proved to be a valuable and hardworking student employee, and we are grateful for her contributions to the Barreca Climbing Wall. Great work, Isabelle!

PERD Administration – Ayush Dixit

Ayush has been an invaluable resource for the team in supporting instructional programming. He joined PERD in summer 2023 with a smile on his face, and enthusiasm to take on whatever was needed to launch classes and keep them running smoothly. Summer 2023 saw tennis programs move outdoors, and Ayush’s help setting up nets, reading radar, and sending friendly weather notifications helped keep our clients in the know. His software engineering skills made learning VSI a breeze, and he makes a huge impact each day with fast and accurate class setup, as well as registration, reporting, transfers, refunds, and client outreach. He is also a cheerful participant in PERD trivial pursuits. Thank you, Ayush!

Pro Shop – Gracie Davenport

Gracie is a TTC and Pro Shop rockstar. After working tirelessly over the summer for almost 40 hours every week, Gracie came back to FitRec ready to crush the fall semester. Gracie is diligent and dependable in all areas. Always willing to lend a helping hand and answer a question, Gracie brings steadiness to areas that can be chaotic at times. Gracie is on top of Pro Shop merchandise and is always looking to help with a restock or organizing task. Thank you for your help and dedication, Gracie! We appreciate you!
