December 2018 Employees of the Month

Happy holidays! Meet our December 2018 Employees of the Month! Our student employees play a big part in making sure that your experiences at FitRec are nothing short of amazing. It’s certainly not easy balancing work and school, but our students make it look easy! We appreciate all of the hard work they put in and their great attitudes.

Each month, full-time staff members from various departments nominate student workers who have shown exemplary work ethic within the past month. The winners for this month will receive gift bags, which include T-Anthony’s gift certificates and FitRec swag. If you see the winners around FitRec (or anywhere else on campus!), make sure to congratulate them!

Aquatics: Victoria Sill

Victoria has been an excellent staff member over the past year, and quickly earned a promotion to Deck Supervisor. Most recently, Victoria has been working hard training new lifeguards and being extra helpful whenever she can.

Climbing: Michayla Kelley

Michayla joined the climbing wall staff this fall and has been a great addition to our team. She is always there to cover shifts for her fellow staff members and she is very accommodating with her schedule. She works very well with the students she teaches and makes an effort to build strong relationships with them!

Intramurals: Chris Golankiewicz

Chris is in his second year of employment with intramurals and is a valuable member of the flag football staff, as well as the softball staff. Chris is our “go to” guy to head ref any difficult or challenging flag football games. Not only is he reliable, but has a wealth of knowledge regarding the rules, and his ability and comfort on the field have an impact on the newer referees. We look forward to having Chris on staff in the future as he continues to grow as a ref and a mentor to younger employees in the program.

ADMIN: Grant Fajardo

Grant has been with the Business Office since his first semester at BU. Now as a junior, he has grown into a leadership position within the department overseeing student employment. Grant is constantly looking for ways to improve processes, and has an exceptional eye for detail when handling some of PERD’s most sensitive information. Grant has the ability to work independently on numerous projects while simultaneously overseeing the payroll system for more than 400 student employees. His knowledge and enthusiasm make him an integral member of the Business Team.

Pro-Shop: Austin Vargas

Austin has been one of the most consistent employees in the Pro Shop. He is friendly to everyone around him and provides excellent customer service. Thank you for your dedication, Austin!

Facilities: Ryan Taylor

A senior, Ryan has brought more enthusiasm, initiative and leadership to his final year at FitRec. In addition to picking up responsibilities as a Rental Office Assistant, Ryan has consistently offered extra support throughout his Facilities shifts. Great work, Ryan!

EMS: Sarah Golden

Sarah consistently displays terrific EMS skills and completely knows and follows her protocols. She spent time all semester training our new hires on BUEMS’s operating procedures. She recently picked up many of our open shifts throughout December, which are often difficult to find coverage for around the holidays. We look forward to spreading the holiday cheer with Sarah!

Fitness: Luke Fusaro

Luke started working with us last semester and has become a valuable addition to our staff.  Luke consistently makes sure the fitness center is spotless, and goes above and beyond what we expect from employees. We look forward to working with him in the future!
