Running Along the Charles

Running Along the Charles

It may be Monday, but it’s also beautiful outside today! It’s a perfect day to mix-up your winter workout routine and go for a run outside.

I went on a quick 3-mile loop this morning before a full-day of work and class – some much needed Vitamin D.

When I first moved from California to Boston last year, I was nervous that I would lose my endurance without being able to go on runs outside. Lucky for me, I have access to multiple treadmills and a track here at the FitRec, and I go to school right by the Charles River, which is a perfect place for a run.

I often use this website to calculate how far I’ve gone. Here, you can check out the distances between bridges over the Charles, and can plan for a certain distance from your own starting/ending points.

I also use the “Runtastic” app while I run to track my distance, pace, average minute per mile, etc. There are a handful of fantastic apps that do similar things.

Anyways, try to take advantage of today’s weather. Go for a walk instead of taking public transportation – even better, try a run along the Charles!
