Student Employment

Student Employment enables students to earn money while in school to help pay college expenses. Working can be a great way to build your resume, make professional connections, and get a mentor for your time at BU.

Most students work on-campus, but off-campus jobs are also available. All students are paid weekly giving them the opportunity to practice building saving and budgeting as they earn money throughout the year. Working can also provide opportunities for students to engage in collaborative experiences making connections with other students and staff.

Students can be employed through the Federal Work-Study program or through the Student Job Service. We help BU students with two kinds of work opportunities:

Good news: working can make you a better student.

Studies show, and BU student employees have confirmed, that working a reasonable number of hours per week while taking classes can help improve your overall academic performance and wellbeing. For one thing, you can learn to organize and prioritize your time more effectively. You’ll also learn skills that can beef up your résumé and help you land other jobs.

If you want to work, BU Student Employment can help you land a job.

Almost every department on campus hires students as part-time employees. So do many employers all over greater Boston. Our Student Employment Office can help you find one that fits your needs and schedule.
