Boston Public High School Students

Boston University is proud to provide special scholarship opportunities for graduates of eligible Boston public high schools. As Boston’s university BU is an integral part of the City of Boston, a world class city and America’s college town.

Thomas M. Menino Scholarship

This prestigious four-year full-tuition scholarship is offered each year to 20 – 25 students nominated by their high school principal or guidance counselor. Established in 1973 as the “Boston High School Scholars” program, the Thomas M. Menino Scholarship has become one of the largest scholarship programs for urban high schools in the country.

BU Community Service Award

Graduates of Boston public high schools who gain admission to BU, as first-year or transfer students, have their full demonstrated financial need met without loans through the BU Community Service Awards program. Of this innovative program, Thomas Menino, Mayor of the City of Boston said, “Boston University has taken the next step of making an education affordable to all qualified Boston public school students. This latest investment symbolizes the unique relationship Boston University enjoys with the City of Boston.”
