CSS PROFILE and FAFSA Applications

Complete the FAFSA to apply for federal and state financial aid. Complete both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile™ to apply for Boston University funded financial aid. For many students, BU funded financial aid is an important component of meeting the cost of enrollment.

It is important that information on the Profile™ and FAFSA be consistent. If at all possible, they should be completed at the same time.

File your Profile™ and FAFSA using your full legal name; do not use a nickname, or any name other than your full legal name.

Tips for Completing the Profile™ and FAFSA offers further helpful pointers for filling out these two forms.

CSS Profile™

File the CSS Profile™ and list Boston University’s College Board code number, 3087. The College Board charges $25 for the first college and $16 for each additional college.

  • Fee Waivers – Families with incomes under $100,000 qualify for an automatic College Board fee waiver.
  • Social Security number – Boston University requires that the student’s Social Security number be reported on the Profile™.

FAFSA

We strongly recommend that you complete your FAFSA online. List “Boston University” and our federal code number, 002130, in the College Release Section.
