At this meeting, William Keylor, Professor of International Relations and History and Director of the International History Institute, presents his research entitled: “The Thorn in the Side: How Six US Presidents Dealt with the Challenge of Charles de Gaulle.”

This paper will summarize the fluctuating views of the French statesman held by American presidents from FDR to Nixon.
