Networking and Leadership
BU Study Group
A group of scientists, students, and researchers who focus on skill sharing, co-working, and community building.
Department Slack Team
A Slack team for the Department was created by a small group of PhD students in the summer of 2017. Join the BU E&E Slack to organize events, ask questions, and share papers with your fellow students. Join the community (bu-earth.slack.com).
Business Cards
Students can purchase business cards at a reduced rate through the Artcraft Company. Contact Fred George III.
Social Programming
The Department’s Graduate Student Association organizes social outings at least once each semester; they are planned to gather the graduate student community together and see Boston and the surrounding area. Past events have included apple picking, bowling, holiday gift swap, and funding for intramural teams hosted by BU.
Graduate Student Organization
The GSO is a group of graduate student representatives from each department in GRS. We hold monthly meetings to allocate funds, plan events, and discuss issues related to the welfare of graduate students at Boston University. The GSO is completely student run, so nothing gets done without students like you. The GSO also provides travel grants.
GWISE
Graduate Women in Science and Engineering (GWISE) at BU strives to create a community to support and promote women in science, technology, engineering, and math fields. Through professional development seminars and workshops, social events, mentoring, and outreach, GWISE fosters interaction across disciplines at Boston University and connects graduate students to postdocs, faculty, and broader networks in Boston and beyond. GWISE is open to all who support our cause. As leaders of the community, GWISE works to advance university policies and programs that promote equality and foster diversity and excellence. GWISE provides resources to address challenges facing women in STEM
