Odysseys of Displacement - Concert & Panel
- Starts: 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025
- Ends: 9:30 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025
The Odyssey explores the personal and spiritual journeys of the Vietnamese Boat People. The Odyssey musically engages this arc of their transformation and contextualizes them in larger terms of human struggle for survival in the face of conflict and political upheaval. The work contains several movements with many songs. Vietnamese instruments, electronic sounds and Western instruments together create the musical vocabulary. Vietnamese folk songs, especially lullabies, are a key compositional element.
