The Power of 15 Minutes
The following message was sent to all students on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from Dean Campbell-Foster.
Friends,
Fifteen minutes can make all the difference in the world, can’t it? (I should know: I slept fifteen blissful, extra minutes this morning).
While standing waiting for my Saxbys, I found fifteen minutes to think. I took out my phone and used those fifteen minutes to tell the University what I thought about the community that we share via the Belonging & Culture Survey. I was honest, reflective and aspirational. Fifteen minutes well spent, if you ask me. By the time I submitted the form, my coffee was ready, the survey was done, and I instantly regretted not ordering the breakfast grilled cheese, too.
This is your chance to share the stories, experiences and aspirations that some of you have shared with me in our conversations over the past year. Your voice matters. Your belonging matters. Your success here at BU matters. Give us your thoughts, and fuel the future by being a part of positive change.
But Dean, I don’t have the time!
Here are some times to consider:
- While brushing your teeth;
- While waiting for the T;
- While searching for ways to procrastinate;
- While overthinking that text message;
- While standing in line for the show at Paradise;
(Just don’t do it while actively walking down Comm Ave.)
Take care and please, tell us what you think.
All my best,
Jason Campbell-Foster, EdD
Interim Associate Provost & Dean of Students
