Need a Spring after Break?

A week of rest sounds like a great thing to have. No classes may mean relaxing for some, partying for others, and for people like me, catching up or getting ahead of homework. Regardless of what we did, the freedom in our schedule allowed us to set our own groove for seven days.

But this break that seems so sweet, can actually become bitter. Transitioning back into our daily campus routines is a struggle, to say the least. Alarm clocks and coffee become our best friends pushing us to start our days. These aids wake us up physically, but unfortunately, there’s no Motivation Macchiato to give us the push to finish the year.

This being my fourth and final Spring Break, I know a few tricks to help ease the Spring Fever we all feel. Don’t fall back into your robotic rut, but try changing up your routine!

Ditch your old study spot for your first week back! Instead of going to your third floor nook in Mugar, check out different study spots around Boston. The Boston Public Library, Trident Booksellers Cafe, and Render Coffee Bar are some of my favorite indoor study spaces. Also, be sure to check the forecast for opportunities to do work outside. I enjoy reading by the Charles River Esplanade (no wi-fi), the Christopher Columbus Park (wi-fi), and Boston Public Garden (wi-fi).

As the weather continues to heat up, Boston hosts several free events throughout the week. Check out The Boston Calendar to find out which events you and your friends can attend.

Put relaxation time in your schedule. The same way you planned your spring break trip, set aside time to do something you enjoy that’s non-school related. Plan a dinner with a friend, or a coffee date if shorter on time, but give yourself something to look forward to every week.

As you spring back into the semester, remember to take advantage of the resources throughout Boston.
