At BU this summer? Go explore Boston!
Before college, summer allowed us students to take a break from all the hard work that we completed during the school year. There may have been some chores to do, or part-time job to work, but there always seemed to be time to meet up with friends, soak up the sun, and go on adventures. In other words, it felt like a real vacation.
Now, everything is different. Instead of vacationing, some Terriers may be working, or perhaps taking Summer Session classes. With most of our daylight being filled with assignments, and studying, it sometimes feels like we’re missing out on summer.
I know that you are busy, but do not let the summer waste away! There is plenty to do in and around the city after work and class. Check out either The Boston Calendar or July’s events in Boston. The city has created an entire bucket list for you try new things just a mile off campus. And the best part is, most of them are completely free.
Places such as the Museum of Fine Arts, the Commons, and surrounding towns like Cambridge and Roxbury, host different festivals every week! The Roxbury International Film Festival, the Boston Guitar Festival at the New England Conservatory, and Harborfest at Boston Harbor, are just the free events left in the last week of this month, meaning there are many more. In July, Boston hosts an even every single day of the month!
Ask a classmate or coworker to go out and explore Boston’s happenings. The next time you see your friends from home, tanning at the beach on Snapchat, remember all the action happening right in your backyard. Take advantage of living in the lively capital of Massachusetts. So don’t pout, and don’t miss out! When your friends return to campus in the fall, you can not only talk about what you did this summer, but you can show them!
