How do I get there? The beach!

Lying out on the BU Beach is great, but don’t you wish the sounds of the passing cars were actually waves on the shore of a real beach?  If you’re in Boston for the summer, or are lucky enough to have some days warm enough to catch some rays by the water, then check out the beaches in and around Boston!

Revere Beach is a popular beach that’s around an hour away on the T, take the Green Line inbound and then take the Blue Line to Wonderland.  The beach is huge so you’ll be sure to get your own area, you just might have to leave a bit earlier since its further away.

Carson Beach It takes under 40 minutes to get to Carson (take the Green Line and then the Red Line to JFK/UMass) and in my experience, it’s been quieter and less crowded.  There are nets for beach volleyball as well as restrooms and food vendors.

Spectacle Island is one of the islands in Boston Harbor and offers hiking trails in addition to a beach.  Head to the Aquarium stop on the Blue Line and walk to the Long Wharf.  You can buy a ferry ticket for $15 and after a 15 minute ferry ride, you’re at the island.

The Cape is perfect if you’re looking for a day-trip that is a bit further away.  You can get to Hyannis via the CapeFLYER for $40 round trip (the train leaves from South Station).  Once in Hyannis, there are a lot of surrounding beaches that you can get to by foot, bike or bus.
