FYI Student Blog: Super BU
by Nathalie Langlois
The time has finally come and Super Bowl XLVIII is here. After Sherman’s post-game interview with Erin Andrews, people have been abuzz about this Sunday’s game. His outburst sparked controversy about the Seahawk’s sportsmanship. Many have said that it was completely inappropriate and overly aggressive. Others have said, “What did you expect?” Sherman, well known for being more than little comfortable voicing his opinions (“You mad?”), had just come off the play of his career and adrenaline was no doubt coursing through his veins. But in truth, we don’t know what is said on the field during a game and so who are we to pass judgment about who was in the right and who was in the wrong.
What really matters isn’t what happens off the field and isn’t what happened in the last game. It’s about what is going to happen on the field Sunday night. With the Broncos being the number one offense in the league and the Seahawks the number one defense, it’s hard to predict how the game will play out. One thing is for sure: it’s going to be an exciting game. What happens when you have record breaking Denver Peyton Manning with the most points scored in a season and Seattle leading the league with fewest points allowed, fewest yards allowed and takeaways? It’s the disparity of these two teams that makes the matchup so intriguing.
Whether you’re watching the game for the football, the halftime show (Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers), the commercials, or the food, come watch it with us at BU Central. We’ll kickoff the party at 6:30 with snacks, drinks and of course football on the big screen! If you’d rather watch the game from the comfort of your room, order a Super Bowl party platter from the Late Night Kitchen. Let us know who you’re rooting for on Twitter with #SuperBowlBU.
On Sunday we’ll see what happens when the unstoppable face the impenetrable.
