C’mon Irene
I’m behind on answering e-mail. Here’s one I thought might be useful:

Dear Dean Elmore,
Are there any contingency plans parents of FYSOP students (and Warren Tower residents) need to be aware of in light of the inclement weather expected early next week?
Thanks,
Concerned

Dear Mr. Concerned,
We’re keeping an eye on several reports of the approaching hurricane. Trusting recent local forecasts, the storm looks like it will be near the Massachusetts/New York border early Sunday evening. It’s expected to move fast and will north of New England by Monday morning. (Sunday will most likely be a windy rainy day). Current forecasts for Boston on Monday are for mostly sunny skies, and breezy. (I know, cue the professional forecaster jokes.)
Given the forecasts I encourage you – parents – and other FYSOPers (First Year Student Outreach Project) to be respect nature and not try to “beat” the storm to get here. I’d confirm my travel plans for Monday. We recognize that delays are likely and that you may get in late Monday, or even Tuesday – either way, don’t worry. We’re skilled at improvisation and adjusting on the fly. Based on overall FYSOPer arrivals, we will delay the beginning of FYSOP as needed. (And we’ll even coordinate our airport pickups around Excited’s schedule.) We rather you miss an hour, or even a day, of FYSOP if it means getting here safely. Please use your best judgment – put Excited’s personal safety first.
At this time, the FYSOP schedule for Monday, August 29, remains as is. We’ll post announcements about schedule changes, if any, on our website: www-test.bu.edu/dos.
Hope this information is helpful to you. Safe travels,
Kenneth Elmore
Dean of Students
P.S. I just had a chance to catch some of the energy from the students prepping up for FYSOP’s Monday start. Whoa! Hold tight! They’re ready to make FYSOP 22 a powerful experience.
