Wouldn’t We Be Better Off with Youth?

I’ve been waiting for the President to give me a call.
The eligibility requirements to be a Supreme are not tough. Most of us are surprised to find out that the law degree and previous judicial experience are not required. That being the case, I’m hoping President O throws down – the same way he did so for health care and his election – for a young person to put on the black robes.
I want someone who understands the meaning of music (preferably jazz); can listen; is idealistic; loves; can lead; and, has compassion. I want the Supreme Court to be about more ordinary people in actual conversation and debate over the right thing to do for the country. (Isn’t it okay for us to bring complicated attitudes and misjudgments to the conversations about the issues that make a difference in our lives?).
Give me someone who has experienced difference in new ways and not the old school warriors. Shouldn’t we have full advantage of someone who is part of the set that has a more nuanced and varied experience with difference and America – people who have danced, done away with analogue, understand pop culture and music, and remain skeptical of politics?
I’ll feel better with someone who has long had a Facebook page, has been in charge of a community of regular folk, is open to new experiences, and is fair-minded. President O, let’s fight for someone different on the Court – a new young Supreme. I’ll take his call and load him up with incredible candidates to vet.
Peace.
