Talk to Your Career Muse

kim1I’m going to be away this afternoon — visiting with alumni and parents on the West Coast.  No worry.  Kimberly DelGizzo — our new director of Career Services — and the Career Services crew, is taking the console.

This week, focus on your self.  Meet and greet folk at the University who hope they can jumpstart your thinking about what you might do.  They’ve got no mystical way to check out the future, but they do have the know-how to be a muse for how you can spend your time when you’re not doing the school thing — over a summer; during a break; after graduation.

This week, as part of Coffee and Conversation, give yourself the gift of thinking about an internship, quick jobs, and ways to test how you feel about certain work that could be what you do during your life.  Give yourself the gift of knowing — what you like, when to move on and how you know what’s right.

I hope you can do more than follow your interests.  Clarity about your personal purpose and bliss over your life’s work is a gift.  Choosing a major is a pretty easy decision — sticking to a major is more difficult.  I hope you receive the he gift of discovering your passion and knowing, well before you finish your experience at a university, what you can do with your life that makes you think and experience real joy.

Get a start.  Kimberly and the crew will be at the Howard Thurman Center from 3-5 p.m. this afternoon.  I’ll make sure they’ve got plenty of coffee and cookies.  You bring the conversation.  See you next week — can’t wait to hear about your hopes and dreams.

Peace.
