Coffee and Conversation — Kick off the Semester with a Summer Rewind
We’re back from summer chill and weekly Coffee and Conversation sessions are on – starting today.
We had great discussions last year – our conversations straddled race, politics, fashion, and art. We talked about threats to the environment and perceived inequities in the way people obtain wealth. We argued about the country’s lack of policies regarding energy use, housing, and health care. We’re concerned about how the country’s wealth was tossed. We were both hopeful and dismayed about America’s political life – the role of young people in the election; proper separation of powers; prisons; torture; abuses of civil liberties; a country’s loss of it’s soul; and, corrupting influences in government. We struggled to create rules for when a country should use force to solve problems but remained concern that we had no idea how to stop violence and killings in America, Rwanda, Darfur, and Burma. And, we got jazzed about love, happiness, and beautiful things.
This semester, stay up on it – let us know when you see something of interest: a new trend; new business ideas; new insights; send me clips and other newsy, thought-provoking, pretty things. We need discussion suggestions throughout the fall – send your ideas now.
I’ll see you later – the first gathering around good coffee and conversation is on Friday, September 4. We’ll re-cap of summer doings. I’ll bring the coffee and cookies, you bring your cup and the good conversation.
Peace.
