MED Campus Digital Media Studio

Medical schools are increasingly moving to a model of online supplementation of in-class active learning. Today’s students expect professional quality digital media and anything less creates unnecessary distractions from learning. Faculty of MED, SPH, GMS, and GSDM now have a digital media studio to enhance their delivery of educational content.

The state-of-the-art studio resource supports increased and improved production of customized digital media to promote active self-paced learning among students while dealing with the challenging constraints of limited curriculum time, faculty availability, and classroom space.

The studio allows faculty to:

  1. Generate professional-quality digital media for use in classroom teaching, such as voice-over slide presentations, illustrated whiteboard lessons, demonstrations of laboratory equipment use, experiential contexts for content, and interactions with experts, robotic simulators, and patients.
  2. Collaborate with each other to share their expertise and experiences and outcomes, and with students in the production of enduring course materials and class projects.
  3. Promote and leverage their teaching strengths in the form of video-enhanced online certificate and Masters programs that reach prospective students, professionals, and alumni to promote lifelong learning.

The soundproofed studio is centrally located in the medical school and is outfitted with advanced, faculty-attested, turnkey hardware and software, with appropriate lighting and audio controls and editing stations, all with ready access to training and assistance supported by Educational Media professionals.
