Making A Sabermetrics MOOC

Andy Andres, a biology professor at Boston University’s College of General Studies, is also a leading expert on sabermetrics, the science and art of baseball analytics. After teaching the course for many years as a lecturer for his alma mater, Tufts University, he worked with BU’s Digital Learning Initiative (predecessor of the Digital Education Incubator) to create a BU MOOC, a free course available through BU’s participation in the online educational consortium edX. The course has been wildly successful, and has helped some of its students get jobs in data analytics and even in the competitive national baseball industry.
